Research 101: Does Genetic Research Depend on Surveys?

Does genetic research depend on surveys?? Are they good surveys?? Is sample size the ONLY thing that matters or would you want to know more specifics? Why can’t people figure out a “cute” way to give more details… I think oversimplification can lead to confusion and actually be incredibly disempowering.
